Lip balm is a staple cosmetic item in our vanity kit which is normally used to treat chapped lips. Aside from moisturizing our lips, lip balm has other surprising uses making it a versatile product.

1. Eye Cream

The thing about store-bought eye creams - they are so expensive! A cheaper alternative is to dab a little bit of lip balm around your eyes to hydrate the skin and minimize the look of fine lines. Most lip balms contain tocopherol (vitamin E) which is a skin-conditioning ingredient found in most eye creams. Moreover, if you want some cooling effect to soothe tired, puffy eyes then you can also use a peppermint-flavored lip balm.

2. Eyebrow Gel

There are times when we want our eyebrows to be perfectly tamed. If you don't have eyebrow gel on hand, then you can tap a little bit of lip balm on your rebellious eyebrows and brush them into place.

3. Nail and Cuticle Cream

Rub some lip balm onto your dry nails and cuticles before you sleep and they will be more moisturized and less brittle when you wake up the next day.

4. Cheek Tint

To achieve rosy cheeks in an instant, use your favorite tinted lip balm to add some natural color on your cheeks. Since lip balm is oil-based, it will also give your cheeks a dewy look.

5. Tame Frizzy Hair

Have a bad hair day? Easily manage your frizzy hair by swiping your fingers over your lip balm, then gently smooth your hair back into place. It would be a lot easier if you will use lip balm in a jar than in a tube for this purpose.

6. Fix Mascara Smudges

If you smudge your non-waterproof mascara, a quick fix is to apply a little lip balm on the smudge and wipe away with a finger or tissue. No more raccoon eyes.

7. Moisturizer in a Stick

If you have some dry patches of skin on your face and body and you don’t have a lotion with you, then just rub some lip balm on the affected areas to moisturize them.

8. Prevent Hair Dye Stains

If you dye your own hair at home, then you can apply lip balm around your hairline in order to prevent the dye from staining your skin.

9. Prevent Shoe Blisters

Wearing a new pair of shoes normally resulted into painful blisters. Apply a thick layer of lip balm on areas where you would usually get blisters. The oiliness of lip balm will minimize the friction between your feet and shoes.

10. Paw Wax for Dogs

Our cute doggie pals also need extra care when traveling during very hot or cold seasons. Before heading out, apply some lip balm on your dog’s paw pads to prevent them from getting blisters while walking on extremely hot or cold roads.

11. Shoe Shine

The main substance of commercial shoe polish is a wax. Lip balm also contains wax and natural oils so it can also be used to quickly polish your leather shoes in order to bring back their shine.

12. Improvised Candle

In case of emergency brownout and you have run out of candles, you can insert a matchstick into a lip balm. The matchstick will serve as a wick and it will absorb the wax from the lip balm to keep the flame burning. This video shows instruction on how to do it. If you don’t have a matchstick, then you can also use a cotton bud or a kitchen paper towel as a candle wick.

13. Remove a Stuck Ring

If the ring is not coming off from your finger, one quick solution is to coat your finger and the ring with a thin layer of lip balm. The lip balm will serve as a lubricant so you can easily take off the ring from your finger.
